#7 PROFS COME FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT RAMAPO IN OVERTIME

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College field hockey fought extremely hard today but the #7 ranked Profs of Rowan University came from behind to defeat the Roadrunners, 3-4 in double overtime.  With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC while the Profs improve to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
 
The Roadrunners came out on fire and dominated Rowan in the first period as they took a 3-1 lead.  At 1:27 into the game, Emily Glutz scored an unassisted goal to jump ahead 1-0, before Maggie Farrell scored her first of the season off an assist from Mariah Tovar to take a two-goal advantage.  Tovar would tally one of her own at 10:26 to put Ramapo up, 3-0.  The goal was assisted by Victoria Docherty.  The Profs would finally get on the board at 12:05 as Kristiina Castagnola ripped a shot into the back of the cage. 
 
The score held through the second period and until halftime as Rowan held a slight advantage in shots, 9-7.  Samantha Stolker made three saves for Ramapo and Morgan Novak made three of her own.  The Profs earned seven penalty corners to Ramapo's four.
 
Rowan would score one goal in each of the third and fourth periods as Bridget Guinan and Myranda McCabe each tallied a goal.  Krystyna Hovell and Casey Wagner each had assists.  In the third and the fourth, the Profs collected seven shots and the Roadrunners added 20, 14 coming in the fourth. 
 
The two teams played a scoreless first overtime and at 72:14, a breakaway goal from Guinan off an assist from Hovell gave the Profs the 4-3 win.
 
Rowan collected three shots in the final overtime and Ramapo was held to none as Novak finished the game with three saves.  Stolker collected six in the tough conference loss.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, October 22nd when they travel to Kean University for a 7:30pm start.
