Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team dropped a tough match-up today to the Cougars of Kean University, 1-4. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 4-7-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the NJAC. The Cougars jump ahead to 6-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference.
Deana Abdou would get the Cougars on the board at 38:47 off an assist from Lauren Jurcsek posting her third goal of the season. The 1-0 score would hold until halftime where the Cougars held a slight advantage in shots, 3-2.
Elizabeth Harvell made just one save in the first half while Kean's Marissa Cook made one herself.
Lexy Monroy would put Kean up 2-0 with a penalty kick in the 53
rd minute before Mariaelena Torres put away back-to-back goals at 62:11 and 75:10 to go ahead four goals to none. The first goal was off an assist from Celine Brady and the second was unassisted. She now has seven goals on the season.
Carla Goodwin broke the shut out with a last second goal, four seconds on the clock, posting her fourth of the year.
In the final half, Kean out shot Ramapo, 9-3 and Harvell made three saves.
Alexandra Kerwin came in to close out the game making one save. Cook finished with an additional one save.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 19
th when they host Rutgers Camden at 1pm at the Athletic Center.
