Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated NJAC rival William Paterson 2-1 in overtime with a golden goal by
Angela Oskierko. The Roadrunners earned their first conference win of the season while they moved to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC while the Pioneers now stand at 7-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Corinne Lenzinger tallied her first goal of the year to put WPU up 1-0 in the 10th minute of action (9:47) before the Roadrunners tied the game in the 12th minute (11:09) with a goal from
Victoria Ewanis. Ewanis netted her third goal of the season to even the score 1-1.
Neither team could find the back of the net through the next three periods before Oskierko tallied her fourth goal of the season off a pass from
Maggie Farrell and
Emily Glutz in the first overtime (64:29) as the Roadrunners came away with the NJAC victory 2-1. Ramapo held a 13-6 advantage in shots while they posted 16 penalty corners to WPU's six.
Samantha Stolker came up big for the Roadrunners in goal with three big saves during the game while Pioneer goalie Tara Weniger collected five saves of her own.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 19th when they host Rowan University in NJAC action at 1pm. The Profs are currently ranked #7 in the latest NFHCA Top 25 Poll.
