Glenside, PA: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches today on the road. The Roadrunners earned their first win of the 2019 season 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19) over Misericordia University before they fell to Elmira College in a five-set match 2-3 (26-28, 25-22, 16-25, 27-25, 6-15). The Roadrunners now stand at 1-4 on the year.
The Roadrunners were led by
Eric Van Thuyne with nine kills, one ace, two blocks and four digs while Stephen Cosidpodo posted eight kills, two aces, two blocks and two digs.
Josh Titus led the way with 27 assists while he also posted two aces and eight digs.
Terrence Cando led the team with three aces while
Brenden Russell posted a team high three blocks while he added three kills. The team tallied 30 kills and nine total blocks.
For Cougars (0-2 overall), they were led by Caleb Bauder with seven kills while Ryan Miller added six of his own. Jordan Spidle dished out a team high 21 assists while Conor Westerfield posted a team high seven digs. Billy Murphy posted a team high four blocks while Brian Ross collected two in the match. The team collected 28 kills while they posted nine aces and five team blocks.
In Ramapo's second match of the day, Ramapo came back to win the second and fourth games to force a game five. Van Thuyne and Codispodo led the team with ten kills apiece while
Jason Van Der Wilt posted six of his own.
Andrew Finnegan led the way with three aces while
Conor Charlow posted a team high four blocks. Titus led the way with 23 assists while
Tyler Plitt collected a team high six digs. The team tallied 33 kills in the match along with seven aces, six team blocks and 22 team digs.
Elmira (1-2 overall) was led by Jose Malave with 16 kills while Ryan McDonough tallied 15 of his own. Malave also posted a team high eight aces while Landon Miller led the team with five total blocks. Jeremy Best dished out a match high 37 assists while Malave once again led the team with 13 digs. The team hit a combined .220 in the match with 56 kills on 123 attempts and 29 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to #5 ranked SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday, January 30th at 7pm.
