Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team improved to 9-1 overall today and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference as Nick Petrozziello scored the game winner in a 2-0 victory over Stockton University at home. Ramapo continues to expand on their best start under Head Coach DJ Pinton as they gave the Ospreys their fifth loss of the season. Stockton falls to 5-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC.
The first half of play went scoreless as Ramapo out shot the Ospreys, 11-6. Joshua Schaffer made five saves in the goal and Michael Lescano made four for the Ospreys.
In the second, Petrozziello connected on a pass from Joseph Fala and Trevor Albrecht to give Ramapo a 1-0 lead at 50:18 before Chris Nash scored one of his own off an assist from Fala to take a 2-0 advantage at the 57:11 mark.
The score would hold until the final buzzer as Schaffer made two more saves in net and Lescano made two. Ramapo again out shot Stockton, 9-3 in the half while Stockton held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks for the game.
Schaffer gets the shut out win and improves to 9-1 overall on the year with just five goals against.
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, October 1st when they host CCNY at 4pm at home.
