Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

RAMAPO DOMINATES AS RUTGERS-NEWARK SLIPS PAST ROADRUNNERS 2-0

Mahwah, NJ: The Rutgers-Newark University men's soccer team defeated Ramapo College 2-0 today in NJAC action. The Scarlet Raiders snapped the Roadrunner's eight game win streak with the NJAC road win today at the Athletic Center Turf Field. The Scarlet Raiders improve to 7-3-1 overall, 2-1 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC.
 
Ramapo dominated the game with 32 shots (14 on goal) while the Scarlet Raiders tallied seven total shots and three on goal. Ramapo also led in corner kicks, 7-3. In the second half, Scarlet Raider goalie Christian Andrach helped keep the Roadrunners off the board as they tallied 21 second half shots. Andrach posted 14 saves in the game for the shutout win.
 
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half while Ramapo led 11-3 in shots. The Scarlet Raiders scored in the 50th minute (49:04) of the game when Joshua Breton-Jones tallied his fourth goal of the year to break the 0-0 tie. Rutgers extended their lead 2-0 in the 71st minute (70:57) when Adonis Scotland tallied his third goal of the season.
 
Ramapo recorded 11 shots (three on goal) in the final 20 minutes of action while the Ramapo defense held the Scarlet Raiders to no shots. Joshua Schaffer tallied one save for the Roadrunners facing seven shots in the game.
 
Ramapo will return to action on Saturday, September 29th when they host NJAC rival Stockton University at the Athletic Center Turf field at 1pm.
