FALA PROPELS RAMAPO PAST #19 TCNJ

Ewing, NJ:  Junior Joseph Fala propelled the Ramapo College men's soccer team today to a 2-1 overtime victory over #19 ranked (by d3soccer) TCNJ in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road.  Ramapo opens the season with one of the best starts under Head Coach DJ Pinton as they have won eight straight.  They currently stand at 8-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.  The Lions fall to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC.

The Roadrunners would get on the scoreboard first in the game as Fala would collect his 11th goal of the season off an assist from Jorge Castro.  Castro played a through ball and Fala hit the back of the net off a shot from inside the box.  The score would remain until the halftime buzzer where the Roadrunners led in corners, 3-2 and each team would take six shots.  Joshua Schaffer made two saves in net and Daniel Mecadon blocked three for TCNJ.

Matthew Nastarowicz scored his second goal of the year and tied the game for the Lions as he put a header past Schaffer off an assist from Nick Sample.  At the buzzer, the score remained tied forcing golden goal overtime play.  In the second, Ramapo held an 8-3 advantage in shots and Schaffer made two more saves.

With under three minutes to play in the overtime period, the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick where Fala capitalized giving the Roadrunners their eighth win of the season and their second in conference play.  The goal was Fala's 12th of the year.  Ramapo outshot TCNJ in overtime, 3-0.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 26th when they host NJAC rival Rutgers Newark at 4pm.
