Mahwah, NJ: The New York University women's volleyball team defeated Ramapo College 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-17) tonight at the Bradley Center. The Violets improve to 11-4 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-9 on the year. In match one of the night Middlebury College defeated NYU 3-0 (25-19, 30-28, 25-22) as the Panthers improved to 5-2 overall.
Ramapo's
Morgan Ridgway and
Felicia Jimenez each recorded eight kills in the match while Ridgeway collected eight digs and two blocks.
Nathalie Ortiz posted seven kills; one dig and two blocks of her own while
Kristina Semple led the team with 18 digs on defense.
Sara Correa dished out a team high 12 assists while
Kate Shirkey recorded ten of her own.
For the Violets, Nazzerine Waldon led the way with ten kills while Grethen Kincade hit .583 in the match with eight kills on 12 attempts and just one error. Abby Ausmus recorded seven kills, five digs and one ace while Emily Kleck recorded a team high six total blocks including two solo blocks. Kleck also posted three kills and three digs. Kincade posted three blocks in the match while Sabrina Krebs collected two of her own while she added three kills. Jacquline Kupeli led the way on defense with 14 digs as she added four assists and one ace.
Middlebury 3, NYU 0 (25-19, 30-28, 25-22)
A balanced offensive attack helped lead the Panthers to a non-conference victory over NYU. Isabel Sessions recorded 12 kills while Sarah Staver added nine of her own. Maggie Wise posted eight kills and Corley Doyle collected seven kills in the match. Doyle led the way with three blocks while Staver tallied two solo blocks and one assisted block. Gigi Apler led the team on defense with 16 digs while Sessions and Chellsa Ferdinand each posted 14 and 12 digs respectively.
For NYU, Kincade led the way with eight kills while she added two digs and five total blocks. Ausmus added five kills four digs and five total blocks while Stella Alverson and Katie Goyette each dished out 11 assists in the match. Kupeli led the team on defense with 15 digs while Jessie Tsang added 13 digs of her own.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow morning when they host Middlebury College in a non-conference match at 11am.
