Madison, NJ: The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's soccer team defeated Ramapo 5-2 today in non-conference action. The Devils improve to 2-0 while the Roadrunners are 0-2 overall.
FDU-Florham got on the board first in the game with a goal from Erica Martins as Madeline Finnegan and Tatiana Nieto each earned an assist for a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute (8:34). The Roadrunners answered back with a goal from
Jessica Raccioppi in the 11th minute (10:57) to tie the game 1-1. The Devils then put two more goals on the board, one by Nieto (12:40) and one by Erika Pita (20:58) for a 3-1 lead. In the first half, the Devils out shot Ramapo 16-4 and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
In the second half, the Devils extended their lead 4-1 on a goal from Amanda Croce and assisted by Lindsey Scarmozzino in the 48th minute (47:15). Raccioppi cut the Devils lead to two with her second goal of the game in the 74th (73:19) minute as the Roadrunners were down 4-2. Nathalia Gallo put FDU-Florham on the board for the fifth time in the game with a goal in the 82nd minute (81:51), unassisted to extend the lead 5-2. The Devils posted 22 shots in the game to Ramapo's 13 while they collected 11 corner kicks to the Roadrunner's two.
