CHOKA LEADS RAMAPO OVER MORAVIAN 2-1

Bethlehem, PA:  The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated Moravian College 2-1 to earn their first win of the 2018 season today on the road in a non-conference game. The Roadrunners even their record at 1-1 overall while the Greyhounds now stand at 0-2.
 
With 1:20 left on the clock the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty corner taken by Melissa Choka. After taking the corner, Choka was able to get a shot off of her own which was saved by the Greyhound goalie. Choka collected the rebound off the initial save and pushed the ball into the back of the net to put Ramapo up 2-1 with under two minutes left to play in the game.
 
The Greyhounds earned a last second penalty corner of their own but did not get a shot off as the Roadrunners came away with a non-conference victory.
 
Ramapo got on the board in the first half with a goal from Jessica Cacoso off a pass from Mariah Tovar, her third goal of the season for a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of play.
 
In the second half, Moravian tied the game up with a goal from Erica Heaney, her first of the season 1-1 before Choka's game-winner for Ramapo in the final minutes of the game 2-1.
 
Ramapo goalie Samantha Stolker recorded seven saves in the game including six in the second half. Ashley Kunsman recorded two saves in the game, both in the second half. Moravian out shot Ramapo 14-8 in the game and held a 16-9 advantage in penalty corners.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, September 7th at 5pm when they travel to Johns Hopkins University.
