Old Westbury, NY: The Ramapo College men's soccer team earned a 2-1 road win over the College of Old Westbury this afternoon in non-conference action. With the win, the Roadrunners remain undefeated at 7-0 overall while the Panthers now stand at 2-4 on the year.
The Panthers saw themselves up 1-0 in the first ten minutes of the game following an own goal off a Ramapo defender. Peter Young ripped a shot that hit off the post and deflected off a Roadrunner defender to give Old Westbury a quick 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners could not find the back of the net while they out shot the Panthers 11-2 in the first half.
Ramapo came back to tie the game in the 49th minute (48:38) of the second half when
Trevor Albrecht sent a corner kick into the box as
Brady White was able to redirect a header past the Panther goalie to even the score 1-1. White scored his second goal of the season while Albrecht recorded his first of two assists in the game. Ramapo then took the lead in the 67th minute (66:24) when they were awarded a corner kick. Albrecht took the corner and sent the ball into the box before
Ronald Kestelboym delivered a pass to
Malik Lopes who pushed the ball pass the Old Westbury keeper on a header for a 2-1 score. Ramapo goalie
Joshua Schaffer earned his two saves in the game once the Roadrunners had the lead in the final 14 minutes to hold onto the non-conference road victory.
Ramapo held a 21-7 advantage in shots in the game including 8-3 on goal while the Roadrunners tallied 11 corner kicks to Old Westbury's five.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 22nd when they travel to the College of New Jersey for a NJAC matchup at 1pm. The Lions are currently 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC while they play a non-conference game on Wednesday against Drew University.
