Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team fell in two matches today at the Roadrunner Invitational in non-conference action. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-6 overall.
In the first match of the day, Penn State University Harrisburg (5-6 overall) defeated Ramapo 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19). Melanie Shearer led the way for PSU with 19 kills as she hit .441 in the match. Brittany Wolf added 15 kills and five digs while Alexis Imler collected 13 kills, two aces and 14 digs. Kristin Waring dished out a team high 45 assists while she added ten digs. Katelyn Hossler collected a team high 20 digs on defense while Corrinne Cook and Imler each added 14 digs. The team hit .215 in the match with 55 kills on 144 attempts and 24 errors.
For the Roadrunners,
Morgan Ridgway led the team with 11 kills while she added ten digs and one assist.
Felicia Jimenez added seven kills, one assist and three digs while
Judy Errichetti contributed with nine kills and three digs.
Juliana Paslawsky and
Sara Correa each led the team with 11 digs while Ridgway posted ten of her own. Correa posted a team high 16 assists and
Kate Shirkey dished out 14 of her own in the match.
Samantha Main led the team with three blocks while she added three kills, two assists and three digs. The team hit .136 in the match with 39 kills on 147 attempts and 19 errors.
In the second match of the day against New Paltz (10-3 overall), the Hawks defeated Ramapo 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-21). The Hawks hit .349 in the match with 51 team kills on 106 attempts and 14 errors. Taylor Cimillo recorded 17 kills hitting .308 in the match while she added one ace and eight digs. Madison Van Pelt posted 14 kills hitting .375 in the match with four digs and one block. Meredith Dignan collected a team high 46 assists while she added 11 digs. Nicole Fellone tallied a team 12 digs on defense while Kerri Nevelle led the team with three aces and four total blocks including three solo blocks.
For the Roadrunners, Jimenez led the way with nine kills as she hit .318 in the match. She also posted one ace and five digs. Ridgway collected eight kills, two aces and nine digs while Bednarz posted five kills, two assists and two blocks. Shirkey led the way with 13 assists while Correa added ten of her own. Paslawsky led the team on defense with ten digs and Bednarz led the team with two blocks. Ramapo hit .131 in the match with 28 kills on 99 attempts and 15 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, September 18th when they host NJAC rival Rowan University at the Bradley Center at 7pm.
