Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team improves to 6-0 overall on the year as they posted a 2-0 shut out win over NJAC rival New Jersey City University in the 2018 conference season opener. Ramapo gets three points and opens the NJAC season at 1-0 while NJCU takes the loss to stand at 0-1 in the conference.
The first half of play went scoreless with Ramapo leading in shots, 10-3 but it was their seven shots in the second half that proved to the winning proposition. Junior
Joseph Fala would connect on a pass from
Guilherme DeNovaes at 55:02 to give Ramapo a 1-0 advantage, scoring his tenth goal of the year. Under ten minutes later, DeNovaes collected his second assist of the game as he laid the ball off to
Jorge Castro who hit the back of the net scoring his first goal of the season. Ramapo leading 2-0, the buzzer would sound as the Roadrunners took the victory at home in Mahwah.
Joshua Schaffer gets the shutout win improving to 6-0 on the year as he made three saves in the net. Eric Lopes Silva played the full 90 for NJCU and gets the loss. He made seven saves on the day.
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, September 17
th when they travel to Old Westbury for a 4pm non-conference match-up.
