Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team hosted the 2018 Roadrunner Invitational today as they posted a 3-0 sweep over Bard College, before falling to Mount Aloysius 3-1. With the split the Roadrunners now stand at 4-4 overall.
Against Bard, the Roadrunners posted a 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-18) victory behind ten kills from
Morgan Ridgway. Ridgway hit .296 with two errors on 27 attempts.
Hannah Frascella collected eight kills and
Felicia Jimenez picked up seven in the win while
Aniella Bednarz put away six kills of her own. The team combined for 35 kills on 101 attempts with eight errors hitting .267 in the win.
Sara Correa and
Kate Shirkey split the setting duties as Correa collected 12 assists and Shirkey 11. Ridgway put away four service aces and picked up 12 digs as the defense was led by
Anna Granquist with 21 digs.
For Bard, Storm Bookhard led the team with eight kills and Maracela Talamantes collected seven while the team combined for 29 kills. They hit .111 with 17 errors on 108 attempts. Jewel Smith dished out 23 assists and Emily Anastasi collected a team leading 17 digs. Victoria Chou and Smith each collected eight digs in the loss.
In the team's second match-up of the night against Mt. Aloysius, the Roadrunners won the first match 25-21 before the Mounties took the final three matches (21-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-23). Jimenez led the team with 13 kills as she hit .346 in the match while she added four digs. Ridgway collected 11 kills, two assists, one ace, one block and 16 digs. Shirkey dished out a team high 19 assists and Correa collected 13 assists and a team high five aces in the match. Granquist posted a team high 20 digs on defense while she added three kills, two assists and one ace. Bednarz collected three kills, one assist, two digs and three total blocks. The team hit .097 in the match with 44 kills on 165 attempts and 28 errors.
The Mounties saw a balanced offensive attack as four players posted eight kills. Machala Gibbons, Emma Pevarnik, Sarah Fisher and Ashlee Parrish each posted a team high eight kills while Macy King tallied seven kills and Jessica Bressler added six kills. Bressler and Pevarnik dished out 23 and 20 assists respectively in the match while Kylee Clawson recorded a team high 32 assists on defense while she also added three aces. The Mounties hit .204 in the match as they improved to 4-6 overall. They tallied 47 kills on 157 attempts and 15 errors.
Action continues tomorrow at 11am as the Roadrunners take on Penn State Harrisburg and New Paltz at the Bradley Center.
