Staten Island, NY: The College of Staten Island women's soccer team scored two second half goals to push the Dolphins over Ramapo College in a non-conference game 2-0. With the win the Dolphins even their overall record at 2-2 while the Roadrunners now stand at 1-4 on the year.
Neither team hit the back of the net in the first half while CSI edged the Roadrunners 9-7 in shots and 5-4 in corner kicks.
Samantha LaValle put the Dolphins on the board in the 55th minute (54:58) off a pass from Mirsade Pelinkovic 1-0 before she added her second goal of the game, and sixth of the season unassisted in the 78th minute (77:40) for a 2-0 lead. In the 88th minute Ramapo nearly got on the board when a shot from
Kaelyn Angelucci hit the crossbar.
Elizabeth Harvell recorded eight saves in the game including saving a penalty kick in the 67th minute. Kaila DiBenedetto recorded seven saves in the shutout for the Dolphins.
CSI recorded 18 shots, 11 on goal in the game while the Roadrunners recorded 11 shots and seven on goal in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 15th when they travel to New Jersey City University in the first NJAC game of the season at 3pm.
