FALA GETS GAME WINNER LEADING RAMAPO AGAINST SWARTHMORE

Swarthmore, PA:  Joseph Fala struck again for the Roadrunners today as the Ramapo College men's soccer team wrapped up the Garnet Alumni Classic against the host Swarthmore College tallying an overtime win, 1-0.
 
After a scoreless 90 minutes of soccer the two teams were forced to play golden goal overtime where Fala capitalized on a penalty kick in the second overtime giving the Roadrunners their second win of the season to improve to 2-0.  The goal came at the 103:16 minute mark and was Fala's fourth of the season after leading Ramapo to a 3-1 win yesterday over Rosemont with a hat trick.  Swarthmore opens the season at 0-1.
 
In the first half, Swarthmore out shot Ramapo 8-3 and Joshua Schaffer made four saves in the net for the Roadrunners.  Oliver Steinglass went untested in the first 45 minutes of play collecting no saves for Swarthmore.  Corner kicks also went to Swarthmore in the first half as they earned three to Ramapo's one. 
 
The second half was evenly played as both teams collected five shots.  Schaffer made two saves and Steinglass made three as the Garnet held a slight edge in corners, 3-2.
 
In the first overtime the Roadrunners took two shots to the Garnet's one while the second overtime proved to be all Ramapo with the Roadrunners on top, 2-0 in shots, and more importantly the game winning goal.
 
Schaffer finished the day with seven saves and Steinglass collected four.  Swarthmore held the advantage on the day in corners, 6-4 and finished slightly on top of Ramapo in shots, 14-12.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 5th in their home opener against Lehman College at 4pm.
