Swathmore, PA: Behind three goals from junior
Joseph Fala, the Ramapo College men's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 3-1 victory over Rosemont College at the Garnet Alumni Classic hosted by Swarthmore College.
Fala first connected with senior
Trevor Albrecht to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 advantage with 14:06 on the clock. The score held until the halftime buzzer where Ramapo led in shots with 6-0. Joshua Shaffer went untested in in the net in the first 45 minutes of play.
Just 44 seconds into the second half, Fala would hit the back of the net on an unassisted play to go up 2-0, before collecting the hat trick at 56:39 off an assist from
Ariton Mimini and Albrecht. In the 62nd minute, Rosemont connected with the back of the net on a free kick to close the gap to 1-3. But it wasn't enough as the Roadrunners closed out the second half earning the 3-1 victory. The Roadrunners again led in shots at 9-2 and Shaffer again collected no saves.
Ramapo earned seven corners to Rosemont's four.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow when they face off with the host, Swarthmore College at 4:30pm.
