PROFS SLIP PAST RAMAPO 3-2 IN NJAC TOURNAMENT ACTION

Union, NJ:  The #4 Rowan University baseball team held on for a 3-2 win over #2 Ramapo College tonight in the second round of the NJAC Baseball Tournament. The win snaps the Roadrunners 14-game win streak as the Roadrunners now stand at 30-12 on the year. The Profs improve to 31-8 overall and will face the winner of the TCNJ & Ramapo game tomorrow night at 7pm. The Roadrunners will now play #1 TCNJ at 11am tomorrow morning.
 
Rowan scored their first run of the game in the top of the first inning when Anthony Harrold drove home Dillon Mendel with a two-out RBI single for a 1-0 lead. Mendel laced a double into left-center earlier in the inning. Monty Strickland would connect on his third home run of the season in the fourth inning when he belted a two-run home run over the left field fence to extend the Prof lead 3-0. Harrold scored as he drew a leadoff walk.
 
The Roadrunners scored both of their runs in the seventh inning. Vincenzo Sita and Kyle Buser each singled with one out before Liam Duffy drove both runs with a single of his own to come within one 3-2. Ramapo would put the game-tying run on third base in the eighth inning but the Profs got a ground out to end the threat. The Roadrunners would put the game-tying run on base again in the ninth inning when Duffy led off being hit by a pitch. The Profs would get a strike out and a double play to end the game and earn the 3-2 win.
 
Ramapo starting pitcher Cory Heitler (8-2) struck out six, walked five and scattered seven hits in seven innings of work. Kyle Haag struck out two, walked none and surrendered just one hit in one inning of relief. The Roadrunners collected nine hits in the game as Austin Unlgaub and Sita each posted two hits.
 
Andrew DiPiazza (7-1) earned the win on the mound for the Profs. He struck out eight, walked on and scattered seven hits in 6.1 innings of work. Jordan Friedman earned his fourth save of the season. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered just two hits in 2.2 innings of work.
