Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough NJAC conference match-up today to the Ospreys of Stockton University, 12-14. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Ospreys jump ahead to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC.
Despite four goals each from
Gabi Davidson and
Shannon Eagan and ten big saves from
Monica Bubello, the Ospreys of Stockton University got past the Roadrunners in a match-up on the Mahwah campus.
The Ospreys jumped ahead 2-0 with goals from Alexis Limongello and Michaella Butrico before Eagan got the Roadrunners on the board in the 17
th minute of play. The Ospreys took a 4-2 advantage before goals from Davidson and Eagan closed the gap to 3-4. Stockton would score back-to-back goals and Ramapo ended the half with two goals of their own to go into the intermission trailing, 5-6.
The Ospreys held a slight 15-14 advantage in shots in the half while Bubello made five saves in the first half of play. Stevie Ader made six saves for the Ospreys. The Ospreys collected eight ground balls and Ramapo picked up six.
In the second half,
Ava Rinaldi tacked on two goals for Ramapo split by a goal from Stockton's Danielle Graham before
Alyssa Tachon tied the game at 10-10 a few goals later at the 15:09 minute mark. The Ospreys would go up, 13-10 with a goal from Gaby Ojeda, the goal would end up being the game winner. Eagan and Davidson would again score for the Roadrunners down the stretch but it wasn't enough as they Ospreys took the game, 14-12.
Stockton led again in shots, 17-15 and Bubello made five more saves. Stockton again led in ground balls as they picked up nine to Ramapo's five.
Ojeda led the Ospreys with seven goals and Samantha Hughes picked up a team leading three ground balls. For Ramapo, Davidson and Eagan each collected three ground balls.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, April 12
th when they host #3 TCNJ at home at 4pm.
