Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team improved to 5-3 overall on the year as they defeated non-conference rival, Farmingdale State, 14-12 at home at the Athletic Center. Ramapo was led by
Alyssa Tachon with five goals in the win. Farmingdale falls to 1-7 on the year.
Tachon led the team with five goals while
Colleen Manley,
Beth McGraw, and
Ava Rinaldi each collected two.
Molly Warner and
Gabi Davidson each picked up four ground balls and Davidson led with nine draw controls.
Julia Tuohy opened the scoring on the day as she posted her 11
th goal of the season to put the Rams ahead, 1-0. Manley knotted the game at 1-1 with her ninth of the season at 24:48 off an assist from Rinaldi before Warner gave the Roadrunners the lead just 22 seconds later.
Nicole Jaskot gets the point for the assist on the goal. Nicola Ingrassia would capitalize on a free position goal to tie the game again, this time at 2-2 and another free positon goal, this time from Tuohy would give the Rams a 3-2 advantage with 14:17 to play in the half. With her 14
th goal of the season, Tachon tied the game at three-all with 11:59 to play before Tuohy and Manley traded goals to put Ramapo within one, 4-5. Tachon grabbed a goal with 3:01 on the clock to tie the game at five and Sam Shelton quickly answered back just seven seconds later to take a one goal lead which held until the halftime buzzer. In the half, Ramapo led in shots, 16-12 and
Monica Bubello collected four saves. Jessica Meyers made eight saves for the Rams.
McGraw opened the scoring in the second half as she knotted the game at 6-6 just over a minute into the half and Rinaldi put the Roadrunners up, 7-6 on an unassisted goal. Tuohy struck again for the Rams on an assist from Courtney Gendels before Davidson collected her first of the game to put Ramapo ahead, 8-7 with 24:46 to go. McGraw scooped up the ball in front of the net and ripped a shot past the Ram netminder to put Ramapo up 9-7 before Danielle Hall got one of her own for Farmingdale to close the gap to 8-9. The assist went to Tuohy. Tachon would tack on back-to-back goals to give Ramapo a three-goal advantage at 16:44 and 15:44 before Gendels tacked on another one for the Rams with 9:22 to play. Samanatha Morra got one of her own with just under six minutes to go and
Shannon Eagan got her first of the day just 18 seconds later. Rinaldi posted another from Tachon and Tachon tallied a goal to lead the Rams, 14-10. Shelton and Alexandra Sparrow would collect final goals in the game but it wasn't enough as Ramapo took the non-conference win, 14-12. In the second half, Bubello made six saves and Meyers added three as the Roadrunners out shot the Rams 17-16.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, April 7
th when they host Stockton University opened up the 2018 NJAC play.
