ROADRUNNERS WIN TENTH STRAIGHT IN 4-3 WIN AT MONTCLAIR STATE

Montclair, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team won their 10th straight game today with a 4-3 comeback win over Montclair State University on the road. The Roadrunners improve to 26-11 overall and 10-5 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks fall to 19-16 overall and 7-8 in the conference.

Ramapo jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Joe Maugeri laced a triple into right field with two outs. Conner Walsh then poked a single up the middle for the Roadrunners first run of the game. In the fourth, Maugeri led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on an infield ground out. Vincenzo Sita then drove him home with an RBI sac fly to right field 2-0. In the fifth inning, Ramapo made it 3-0 when Ryan MacNaughton scored on a MSU error.

The Red Hawks came back with two runs in the fifth and tied the game with one run in the eighth inning 3-3 before Ramapo would push a run across in the top of the ninth. The bases were loaded with two outs before Austin Ungluab worked a four-pitch walk forcing home Bobby Shannon with the eventual game-winning run 4-3. Shannon beat out a bunt single earlier in the inning before he stole third base to get into scoring position.

Kevin Foulds entered the game on the mound for Ramapo in the bottom of the ninth to earn his 9th save of the season as he induced three straight ground outs. Greg Westhelle (1-0) earned the win on the mound in relief. He worked a third of an inning with one strikeout. Ramapo starter Jerry D'Andrea struck out seven, walked three and scattered seven hits in six innings of work before Kyle Haag entered the game in the seventh inning. Haag struck out one, walked two and surrendered just two hits in 1.2 innings of work.

Maugeri led the offense finishing 4-4 with two runs scored while Walsh, Shannon and MacNaughton each collected one hit for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon back at Yogi Berra Stadium against Montclair State University at 3:30pm while the Roadrunners will be the home team.
