RAMAPO DEFEATS CAIRN, FALLS TO #6 MARYMOUNT

Langhorne, PA: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team split a pair of CVC Conference matches on the road tonight and now stand at 7-16 overall and 4-7 in the CVC. #6 Marymount University defeated Ramapo in match one 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22) while the Roadrunners bounced back to defeat host Cairn University 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-23).
 
Match one:
Marymount, who were recently ranked #6 in the latest AVCA Top 15 Poll, had two players tally ten or more kills in the match to lead both teams. Sam Safley hit .483 in the match with 18 kills while TJ Wiecheki collected ten kills of his own. Remington Shahan hit .636 with eight kills on 11 attacks and only one error. Erich Bratke posted a team high 31 assists while Connor Choate collected a team high nine digs on defense. Safley and Shahan also each posted two blocks in the win. Marymount hit .325 in the match with 41 kills on 80 attempts and 15 errors.
 
For the Roadrunners, Garrett Fitzsimmons hit .367 in the match with 13 kills on 30 attempts and only two errors while Brenden Russel and Eric Van Thuyne each added four kills of their own. Lucas Inglis dished out a team high 22 assists while Van Thuyne and Fitzsimmons collected five digs to lead the team on defense. The team hit .219 in the match with 26 total kills on 73 attempts and ten errors.
 
Match two:
The Roadrunners defeated Cairn in a key CVC match as Van Thuyne led the way with 11 kills on 19 attempts and six errors to hit .263. Fitzsimmons collected nine kills while Paul Close added six of his own. Inglis once again led the way with 30 assists while Van Thuyne and Russell posted four and three aces respectively. On defense, Close and Terrence Cando each collected five digs while Close and Stephen Codispodo led the team with two blocks. The team hit .227 in the match with 36 kills on 75 attempts and 19 errors.
 
For Cairn, Micah Godshall led the way with ten kills while Ryan Ludvik collected ten assists. On defense Jon Simpson and Juston Wolgemuth each posted three digs on defense. Joffrey Rosa posted three assisted blocks in the match while Ludvik collected two. The team hit .161 in the match with 22 kills on 62 attempts and 12 errors.
 
The Roadrunners earn the #3 seed in the West Division of the CVC and will take on #2 Rutgers-Newark of the East Division in the opening round of the CVC Tournament at Rutgers-Newark on April 10th.  Ramapo returns to action tomorrow night when they travel to #4 Kean University for a CVC conference match at 8pm.
