Fort Lauderdale, FL: The Lady Roadrunner basketball team wrapped up the Fort Lauderdale Classic today with a tough loss to Emmanuel College, 58-68, falling to 6-7 overall on the year. Emmanuel jumps ahead to 8-2 overall.
Jenna Harsh and Jessica Repasy each netted 17 points on the day as Harsh hit 7-10 from the field including three three-point goals. Repasy went 7-10 as well with one long shot and 2-4 from the charity stripe. Repasy led in rebounds with five and Amber Sagan dished out six assists. The team combined hitting 21-51 (41%) in the loss as they caused 14 Emmanuel turnovers.
Emmanuel's Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda was big with a double-double that included 19 points and 12 rebounds. Kayla Weaver led with 22 points and Riley Lahiff collected 16 points of her own. She also grabbed eight rebounds. Caitlin Cipriano grabbed ten boards and Molly deBettencourt dished out five assists. The team hit 25-66 (38%) in the win and caused 21 Ramapo turnovers.
The first period was evenly played as the two teams traded baskets coming to a 16-16 tie at the buzzer, but Emmanuel would out score Ramapo 19-12 in the second to head into the locker room with a seven point advantage over the Roadrunners. Halfway through the period the Saints would pull away but Ramapo would close the gap to come within two, with under four minutes to play. Emmanuel would close out the half on a run to take the seven-point, 35-28 half-time lead. The Roadrunners would win the third period, 15-13 but the Saints fired back in the final minutes of the game to take the fourth, 20-15 and the game, 68-58.
Ramapo returns to action after the New Year as they travel to TCNJ on January 5th for a 1pm tip.
