Fort Lauderdale, FL: The Ramapo College women's basketball team dropped a match-up to Kenyon College today, 32-56 in the opening round of the Fort Lauderdale Classic. With the loss the Lady Roadrunners fall to .500 at 6-6 overall. Kenyon jumps ahead to 9-3.
Alie Wickersheim led Ramapo with ten points as she shot 3-7 from the field. She pulled down five rebounds while Jenna Harsh netted nine points with three rebounds and one block. The team combined hitting 10-46 (22%) in the loss. Sarah Minchin led with two assists. Ramapo caused nine Kenyon turnovers in the tough loss on the road.
Paige Matijasich led Kenyon as she nailed down 5-12 from the field for 12 points. She pulled down five rebounds while Sharon Hull led in rebounds with seven. She also collected nine points in the win and Ellie Schaub added 11. The team went 19-55 (35%) as they forced 14 Ramapo turnovers.
Kenyon took a 17-4 lead after the first period as Ramapo struggled on offense but the Roadrunners would fight back in the second matching Kenyon in points at 12-12 to trail 16-29 at the halftime buzzer. Ramapo again struggled in the third only collecting four points to Kenyon's ten. The Roadrunners were unable to recover with Kenyon out scoring Ramapo, 17-12 in the final period and 56-32 for the win.
Ramapo returns to action on Sunday, December 30th when they take on Emmanuel College at 11am.
