Mahwah, NJ: The College of New Jersey men's swim team edged Ramapo College today 136-126 today in NJAC action at Adele and Reuben Thomas Swimming Pool. The Lions improve to 2-0 overall and in NJAC action when they Roadrunners now stand at 0-2 overall and in conference action.
The meet came down to the final two races of the day as the Lions came out on top. Ramapo won five individual events and the two relay events in today's meet. This is the first time in program history that Ramapo has defeated TCNJ in both relay events. The Roadrunners jumped out to an early lead with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Ramapo out touched TCNJ at the wall by a narrow margin as they clocked in at 1:40.02 to earn 11 points. The team was made up of
Aviad Mana,
Sam Cossaboon,
Alex Barszcz and
Josh Templeton. The Lions clocked in at 1:40.46.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Ramapo came out on top when they clocked in at 1:29.11 while TCNJ finished second in 1:32.19. The Roadrunners were made up of Templeton, Barszcz,
Benjamin Kern and
Patrick Herrera.
Templeton won two individual events along with being on both relay teams. He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.10 before taking first in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.67.
Nicholas Markwell,
Tyler Czubachowski and
Jesse Smith went 2-3-4 in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 58.42, 59.09 and 59.54 respectively. Cossaboon won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.32 while
Noah Callahan placed third in 1:04.25. Mana placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.11) while Barszcz posting a winning time of 22.81 in the 50-yard freestyle before P. Herrera placed third in the same event in 23.16. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Cossaboon and Callahan went 1-2 overall with times of 2:18.07 and 2:18.98 respectively. Callahan also finished in second place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.35.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Rowan University in a NJAC meet on Saturday, November 10th at 2pm.
