Kashaun Barnes posted a season high 29 points as the Ramapo College men's basketball team remains undefeated with a 61-50 road win over Rutgers-Newark University. The Roadrunners move to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raiders suffer their first loss of the season and stand at 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Barnes finished 15-17 from the free throw line and 6-11 from the field as he posted 29 points and six rebounds. Junior
Rob McWilliams recorded his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds while senior
Rob Lewis collected eight rebounds and two points on the night. Ramapo trailed by two at the half 27-25 before they outscored the Scarlet Raiders 36-23 in the second half for the 61-50 road victory.

Jordan Zagadou pushed the lead to three 5-2. A 14-3 run put the Scarlet Raiders up 19-12 before a jumper from Barnes snapped the run 19-14 with less than ten minutes on the clock in the first half. With 3:21 on the clock Rutgers-Newark led 23-17 before Ramapo went on a mini 6-0 run to tie the game for the first time 23-23 with 2:23 on the clock. The Scarlet Raiders outscored Ramapo 4-2 in the final two minutes of action as they led 27-25 heading into the locker room.
In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders held a two-point lead 38-36 with 12:40 on the clock before Ramapo went on a 10-2 run sparked by a layup from junior
Andre Morgan and capped off with a pair of free throws from Barnes with 8:43 on the clock to take a 49-40 lead. Ramapo would not give up the lead the remainder of the game as they stretched it to 11, with 1:11 on the clock on a free throw form McWilliams, 57-46. The Roadrunners biggest lead of the game came with 23 seconds left when Battle hit the front end of a two-shot foul, 61-48. Tyler Ofray scored the final points for the Scarlet Raiders in the final seven seconds of action as Ramapo came away with a 61-50 road win.
Three players scored in double figures for the Scarlet Raiders. Ofray posted a team high 15 points while Thomas tallied a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chase Barneys collected ten points, four rebounds and one steal. The team shot 30% (18-59) from the field, 15% (3-20) from the three-point line and 73% (11-15) from the free throw line.
Ramapo returns to action when they travel to Montclair State University on Wednesday, November 28th in a NJAC match-up at 8pm.
