#1 MSU TOPS #2 RAMAPO IN NJAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Montclair, NJ:  The #1 Montclair State University men's soccer team won their 13th NJAC Championship in a 5-0 win over #2 Ramapo College tonight at MSU Soccer Park. The win extends the Red Hawk's streak to four straight as they now stand at 17-1-2 overall.  The Roadrunners, who advanced to the championship game for the first time in school history, now stand at 15-3-2 overall.
 
MSU earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament which begins next weekend. The Red Hawks are ranked #1 in the South Atlantic Region while the Roadrunners are ranked #3. Ramapo will wait to see if they earn one of the NCAA at-large bids. The NCAA Selection show will announce the full bracket on Monday, November 5th at 1pm on www.ncaa.com.
 
The Red Hawks got on the board in the first half when Colin Mulligan collected an unassisted goal in the 30th minute for a 1-0 lead. The score would hold until the second half when MSU added four goals. The Red Hawks led 10-5 in shots in the first half.
 
In the second half Jose Huerta posted his 13th goal of the season in the 46th minute before Damian Kolodziej took a pass from Chaz Burnett to make it 3-0 in the 59th minute. Rafael Terci then put away his 11th goal of the year off an assisted by Michael Knapp before Burnett converted on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to extend the MSU lead 5-0.
 
Ramapo kept on pace with MSU in the second half as the Red Hawks held a slight edge 12-11 in shots.
 
For the game MSU recorded 22 shots to Ramapo's 16 while the Red Hawks posted 13 shots on goal to the Roadrunners four. MSU also tallied four corner kicks while Ramapo was awarded one.
 
Ramapo goalie Josh Schaffer faced 21 shots while he collected eight saves in the game. MSU goalie Mike Saalfrank faced 16 shots and recorded four saves.
