Mahwah, NJ: The Montclair State University women's soccer team defeated Ramapo 1-0 today at the Athletic Center. The Red Hawks improve to 7-2-3 overall, 3-1-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, the Red Hawks got on the board in the 54th minute (53:01) when Christine Mayorga took a pass over the top from Maddy McLelland and tallied her first goal of the season to put MSU on the board 1-0.
The Red Hawk defense would make sure the shutout held as they came away with a tough NJAC road victory and their sixth shut out of the season. MSU out shot Ramapo 23-5 in the game and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Roadrunner goalie
Elizabeth Harvell tallied ten saves in the game. The Red Hawks split time in the net as both Phoebe Bledsoe and Lindsay Freewalt recorded one save.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 10th when they travel to Kean University (3-5-4, 1-2-2 NJAC) for a conference game at 7:30pm.
