Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College field hockey team posted an 11-0 shut out win today over Lancaster Bible in a non-conference match-up at home. With the victory, behind three goals from
Mariah Tovar, the Roadrunners improve to 4-7 on the year. Lancaster falls to 0-9.
Melissa Choka would strike early and score what turned out to be the game winner as she hit the back of the cage just 35 seconds into the game. Tovar posted her first of the game at 2:34 before she added a second goal, off an assist from
Jessica Cacoso, at the 10:15 minute mark. Cacoso got one of her own at 16:40 to take a 4-0 advantage before
Claudia Wetzel and
Autumn Laird rounded out the scoring in the half to take a 6-0 lead at the halftime buzzer.
Ramapo out shot the Chargers 20-0 in the half as
Samantha Stolker went untested in the cage.
In the second half,
Victoria Ewanis, Tovar and
Angela Oskierko (2) each contributed points to take the game, 11-0.
The Roadrunners again out shot the Chargers, 10-0 and
Emily Tomas and
Tracy Barhorst each went untested in goal.
Ramapo earned 22 penalty corners to the Chargers' two while Anne Vanbuskirk made ten saves in net for Lancaster Bible.
The Roadrunners return to action on October 10th when they face off with #10 Montclair at 4:00pm at the Athletic Center Turf.
