STOLKER COLLECTS 16 SAVES IN TOUGH LOSS TO MSU

Mahwah, NJ:  The Montclair State University field hockey team slipped past Ramapo College tonight in a close NJAC conference game 1-0. The Red Hawks move to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
 
The Roadrunners played a strong defensive game against the Red Hawks who are ranked #8 in the latest NFHCA Top 25 Poll. MSU recorded 15 shots in the first half while Ramapo goalie Samantha Stolker tallied five saves. The Roadrunners recorded three shots in the first half.
 
In the second half, the Roadrunner defense continued to shine as they kept the Red Hawks off the board. In the 55th minute (54:49) of the game Stolker made a stop before the rebound shot was saved on the goal line from Ramapo's Stacey Faria for her fifth defensive save of the season.
 
The Red Hawks were awarded a penalty stroke in the 57th minute (56:54) as Stolker came up big for Ramapo and made a diving save to her left to keep MSU off the board and hold the score at 0-0. Ramapo then went down the field and recorded three shots, two on goal as Nicole Andriani came up big for MSU to make the saves.
 
Following a MSU timeout, the Red Hawks looked to control the game as they earned two penalty corners and two shots, one on goal as Stolker made yet another save. Elizabeth Cimilluca would record her third goal of the season off a pass from Kellie Vizzuso in the 65th minute (64:38) to put MSU on the board 1-0. The Roadrunners would not get a shot off in the final five minutes of action as the Red Hawks came away with the NJAC road victory.
 
Stolker tallied 16 saves in the game, tying her career high for the Roadrunners. Andriani posted five saves for MSU. The Red Hawks tallied 35 shots in the game including 18 on goal while the Roadrunners recorded nine shots in the game and five on goal. MSU held a 20-6 advantage in penalty corners.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 13th as they travel to #5 Rowan University for a NJAC conference game at 1pm. The Profs enter their game tonight against Arcadia University with a perfect record at 12-0 overall and 3-0 and the conference.
