FALA LEADS RAMAPO TO WIN & NOW LEADS NATION IN GOALS

Mahwah, NJ:  With two goals on the day, junior Joseph Fala once again propelled the #2 seeded Roadrunners to a 2-1 victory over #6 seeded Pioneers of William Paterson in a hard fought play-off match-up at the Athletic Center.  With the victory the Roadrunners advance to play for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship trophy on Friday, November 1st against the winner of #1 Montclair State and #4 Rowan.  Ramapo improves to 15-2-2 overall on the season.  William Paterson stands at 12-7-1.

Recently named the 2018 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, Fala now leads the nation in goals scored with his two goals today (25).  He stands strong leading in points as well as he has collected 56 so far this season.

Fala would get the Roadrunners on the board in the 31st minute as he took a pass from Eduardo Reyes and Guilherme DeNovaes giving Ramapo a 1-0 lead.  The halftime ended with Ramapo leading 1-0 despite the Pioneers holding an 8-5 lead in shots.  Joshua Schaffer made four saves in the half while Kyle Quigley made one for William Paterson.

Christopher Fuentes would score his second goal of the season to knot the game at one as he chipped the ball over Schaffer's head at the 71:00 minute mark.  With just over one minute to play in the game, Fala would capitalize on a penalty kick to give Ramapo the win, their 15th of the season.

The team each recorded eight shots in the second half and Schaffer made one save.  Quigley made one for the Pioneers.  On the day, the two teams each earned three corner kicks.

Ramapo awaits news on their championship opponent as Montclair and Rowan play this evening at 7pm in Montclair.  Based on that outcome will determine the time and place of Friday's championship.

This is the first time the Roadrunners are heading to the NJAC finals in Head Coach DJ Pinton's tenure.  It is their fifth appearance overall under his direction.
