WPU SLIPS PAST RAMAPO IN OVERTIME 1-0

Wayne, NJ:  The William Paterson University field hockey team recorded the game-winning goal in overtime to slip past Ramapo College 1-0 tonight in conference action. The Pioneers are now 5-6 overall, 1-1 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.  
 
Each team recorded six shots in the first half while WPU recorded ten shots to Ramapo's three in the second half. Neither team found the back of the cage in regulation sending the game into overtime. In the 75th minute (74:50) Shannon Super scored the game-winning goal, unassisted and her second of the season to lead WPU to the 1-0 NJAC victory.
 
Ramapo held a slight edge in penalty corners in the game 13-12 while they recorded all three penalty corners of the overtime period. WPU posted 17 shots to the Roadrunners 13 for the game. The Roadrunners out shot WPU in the overtime period 4-1.
 
WPU goalie Mallory Rickerhauser she tallied two saves in overtime and eight in the game. Samantha Stolker also recorded eight saves in the game, four in each half.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 6th when they host Lancaster Bible College at 1pm at the Athletic Center Turf Field.
