Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

ROADRUNNERS SECURE #2 SEED, FALA BREAKS GOALS RECORD

Wayne, NJ:  It took extra time to decide but the Ramapo College men's soccer team topped the Pioneers of William Paterson University, 3-2 in overtime as Joseph Fala came out big scoring the game winner and breaking the record for goals in a season.  With the victory, the Roadrunners improve to 14-2-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  With the win, the Roadrunners earn the #2 seed in the NJAC post-season tournament earning a first round bye into the semi-final round.  The Pioneers wrap up regular season at 11-6-1 overall and 4-5 in conference play and earn the #6 seed in the tournament.
 
Fala opened up the scoring in the 8th minute of the game as he broke the record for most goals in a season (22) at Ramapo giving the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead over the Pioneers.  Ramapo's goal was assisted by Guilherme DeNovaes and Jorge Castro.  Approximately 20 minutes later, William Paterson tied up the game as Christopher Fuentes posted a goal off an assist from Jordan Saling and Dromo Quaye.  The goal was his fourth of the season.  The halftime buzzer came with the two teams were knotted at one. 
 
Joshua Schaffer made two saves in goal for Ramapo as the Pioneers outshot the Roadrunners, 7-2.  Kyle Quigley made just one save for William Paterson.  Ramapo earned the only corner kick of the half.
 
In the second half of play the Pioneers would take a 2-1 lead off a goal from Quaye but Ramapo's Chris Nash tied up the game 2-2 to force overtime off an assist from Justin Charkowski.  The goal came with under four minutes to play in regulation.  In the half, the shots were even at 4-4 and Schaffer made no saves.  Quigley earned just one for the Pioneers.  The Pioneers took six corners to Ramapo's none.
 
Fala would collect the game winner and his 23rd of the season in the third minute of overtime as he took a dish from Trevor Albrecht and ripped it past Quigley earning the NJAC win on the road.
 
The Pioneers took two shots in just under three minutes in OT and Ramapo's sole shot went in for the win.  Schaffer came up big with two saves.  Quigley blocked none.
 
The Roadrunners will host the winner of #3 Rutgers Camden and #6 William Paterson in the semi-final round on Tuesday, October 30th at 2pm at the Athletic Center Turf.
