RAMAPO TOPS RUTGERS-CAMDEN IN FIVE-SET THRILLER

Camden, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's volleyball team defeated Rutgers-Camden University tonight in an exciting five set match 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 15-8). The Roadrunners improve to 9-18 overall, 2-5 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raptors now stand at 9-13 overall, 0-6 in the conference.
 
The Roadrunners fell in the first set before bouncing back in sets two and three. The Scarlet Raptors edged Ramapo in set four to force a fifth set before Ramapo won 15-8 for the five-set victory. Morgan Ridgway led the team with 14 kills while Nathalie Ortiz recorded 12 kills, three digs and four total blocks. Hannah Frascella posted 11 kills including two aces, one block and 14 digs while Felicia Jimenez added eight kills. Aniella Bednarz contributed with five blocks and one solo block while Samantha Main tallied three kills, two digs and four blocks. Sara Correa led the team with 27 assists as she added ten digs.  Kate Shirkey posted 19 assists along with three aces and six digs. On defense Kristina Semple led the way with 29 digs while she also added three aces in the match. The team hit .199 in the match with 55 kills on 176 attempts and 20 errors.
 
Jordan Erskine posted a team high 14 kills for Rutgers-Camden while Morgan Mulligan added 13 kills and 18 digs. Myiah Gatling and Jamie Mulligan contributed with eight and seven kills respectively. Brinn Hassan posted 25 assists while Kayla Benesz dished out 24. Benesz also tallied ten digs on defense while Ashley Newman led the team with 20 digs. Gatling also led the team with four blocks while Mulligan contributed with 18 digs. The Scarlet Raptors tallied 54 kills as a team on 184 attempts and 32 errors.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, October 23rd when they host William Paterson University in a NJAC match at the Bradley Center at 7pm.
