RAMAPO & WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE END IN 3-3 TIE

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw against non-conference foe Western Connecticut State University in double overtime. The Roadrunners move to 11-2-2 overall while the Colonials now stand at 10-3-3 on the year.
 
Each team scored two goals in the first half and one goal in the second for the 3-3 score. Edward Franzoni collected a pass off the head of Joseph Fala in the first half and hit the back of the net for the Roadrunners to get on the board 1-0 in the 16th minute (15:25).
 
David Masala ripped a shot that was blocked before Chauncey Allers collected the rebound and hit the back of the net for his 15th goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 in the 23rd minute (22:57). Franzoni would put Ramapo in the lead once again with his fourth goal of the season and second of the game just five seconds later on the restart (23:02) to go up 2-1. Allers would pick up the assist on the team's second goal of the game as Christian Tomaj scored his first goal of the season (27:30) to once again even the score 2-2. Fala looked to score for the Roadrunners in the 41st minute when his header hit the crossbar. Ramapo led 15-6 in shots in the first half while they recorded five corner kicks to WestConn's one.
 
In the second half, Allers almost put the Colonials up one goal in the 59th minute (58:41) but the ball was stopped at the goal line by Ramapo defender Malik Lopes. Allers would then score his team leading 16th goal of the season off a pass from Dario Richeme in the 73rd minute (72:41) to give the Colonials a 3-2 lead. The Roadrunners were down to the final seconds, three to be exact, as Peter Livanis would send the game into overtime when he tied the game at three off a pass from Ronald Kestelboym (89:57). In the second half, WCSU edged Ramapo in shots 7-6 while Ramapo posted four corner kicks and the Colonials tallied two.
 
Neither team found the back of the net in the first or second overtime for the 3-3 tie. WCSU recorded three shots in the first overtime to Ramapo's one. In the second overtime, the Roadrunners controlled the period with three shots to WCSU's one. Ramapo held a 25-17 advantage in shots in the game and a 9-4 lead in corner kicks. Joshua Schaffer collected five saves in the game for the Roadrunners in the complete game while Luca DiCarlo tallied eight saves for the Colonials.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, October 17th against Kean University at 3pm in a key NJAC conference game. The Roadrunners will honor their eight seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
