Mahwah, NJ: The Montclair State University men's swim team defeated Ramapo College today 153-109 in NJAC action. The Red Hawks improve to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Roadrunners won the 200-yard medley relay when they out touched MSU at the wall in 1:38.47 while the Red Hawks posted a second place time of 1:38.59. The Ramapo team was made up of
Andrew Ramos,
Sam Cossaboon,
Julian Giglio and
Jordan Leonardo.
Chaz Cella recorded personal best times this season in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. He placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:19.97) while he won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.94. The Roadrunners finished 2-3-4 in the 100-yard backstroke as
Tomer Bachar placed second (54.49),
Jose Alferez placed third (54.66) and
Matt Stenger clocked in at 57.73 for fourth place.
Sean Flannery won the 100-yard breaststroke when he posted a time of 1:00.88 while Cossaboon grabbed a third place finish in 1:01.56.
Aviad Mana clocked in at 2:04.39 in the 200-yard butterfly for a third place finish while Ramos and Leonardo finished 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 22.18 and 22.38 respectively. Ramos also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (49.20) while Bachar out touched the Red Hawks in the 200-yard backstroke for a first place finish in 1:59.20. Cossaboon and Flannery went 2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:15.67 and 2:15.88 respectively. Alferez clocked in at 2:05.46 in the 200-yard IM for a second place finish and the 400-yard freestyle relay team placed second overall with a time of 3:19.10. The team was made up of Ramos, Bachar,
Aspen-Jade Tucker and Leonardo.
