Immaculata, PA: The Ramapo College field hockey team earned their fifth win of the season with a 3-1 road victory over Immaculata University. The Roadrunners improve to 5-5 overall while Immaculata now stands at 2-9 on the year.
Ramapo got on the board in the first half when
Melissa Choka knocked in her team leading sixth goal of the season off a hard pass from
Victoria Ewanis to go up 1-0 in the 28th minute (27:01). The Roadrunners collected seven shots in the first half while the Macs tallied three shots of their own.
Early in the second half (40:22), Brittany Richards tallied her first goal of the season off a pass from Megan Donegan to tie the game 1-1.
Lauren Berry tallied her first goal of the season, the eventual game-winner off a pass from Choka to take a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute (52:38).
Gianna Mouskourie hit the back of the cage for an insurance goal for the Roadrunners in the 65th minute (64:16) off a pass from
Stacey Faria to take a 3-1 lead. Faria helped lead the team on defense in the game as she posted a goal line save in the second half when the game was tied 1-1.
Ramapo's
Emily Wisneski collected 11 saves in the game while Randie Kuhar posted four saves for the Macs. Ramapo tallied 12 shots in the game to Immaculata's 14 while each team recorded ten penalty corners.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, October 3rd when they travel to NJAC rival Kean University for a 7:30pm game. The Cougars are currently ranked #16 in the NFHCA Top 25 poll. During the 2016 season the Cougars shutout Ramapo at home 4-0.
