Union, NJ: The Kean University field hockey team remains undefeated (12-0, 2-0 NJAC) with a 4-0 shutout win over Ramapo College tonight at Cougar Field. The Cougars are ranked #15 in the latest NFHCA Top 25 poll. The Roadrunners now stand at 5-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Emily Wisneski and the Roadrunner defense held the Cougars scoreless in the first half for only the second time all season. Wisneski tallied 13 saves in the first half while
Melissa Choka made a goal line save to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
In the second half Kean got on the board in the 39th minute (38:38) when Krista LaMaina collected her 12th goal of the year unassisted. Just over a minute later (39:48) her sister collected her eighth goal of the year as K. LaMaina assisted Shauna LaMaina to take a 2-0 lead. K. LaMaina took a pass from Lia DiPiazza and hit the back of the net for her 13th goal of the season (49:11) before Jenna Patrone recorded an unassisted goal in the 64th minute (63:37), her fifth of the year for a 4-0 score.
The Cougars posted 44 shots in the game to the Roadrunners one while they collected 32 penalty corners to Ramapo's one penalty corner. Wisneski recorded a career high in saves in the game with 25. She now is in 5th place on the single season saves list at Ramapo with 133 saves. Roni Wellema and
Victoria Ewanis each collected a defensive save in the game while
Stacey Faria posted two defensive saves for Ramapo.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday, October 5th when they travel to Union College for a 6pm non-conference game.
