Schenectady, NY: The Union College field hockey team held on for a 3-2 win over Ramapo College tonight in non-conference action. Union improves to 5-4 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 5-7 overall.
Union got on the board in the first half with a goal from Rachel Andreana, her first of the year, off a pass from Charlotte Leyland to take a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute (24:38). Ramapo's
Melissa Choka scored her team leading seventh goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 (26:09) off a pass from
Gianna Mouskourie. Alex Puleio scored during a penalty corner for Union in the final minute (34:40) of action of the first half to take a 2-1 lead as Laura Wind recorded the assist.
Puleio collected a rebound off a shot from Hannah Christian in the second half (46:11) and found the back of the cage to extend Union's lead 3-1. Ramapo would shrink the lead to one with a goal from Mouskourie, her fifth of the year, this time off a pass from Choka in the 56th minute (55:57).
Union held a 25-17 advantage in shots in the game and a 12-10 edge in penalty corners.
Emily Wisneski posted 14 saves in the game for the Roadrunners while Mary Beth Rudolf recorded seven saves for Union.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 7th when they host Rowan University in a NJAC conference game at 4pm. Last season the Profs defeated the Roadrunners 6-0.
