Mahwah, NJ: The Devils of Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham women's soccer team held onto a 1-0 road win over Ramapo College this afternoon at the Athletic Center. The Devils improve to 2-0 while the Roadrunners even their record at 1-1.
In the 28th minute (27:07) Madeline Finnegan crossed a ball from the right side to Erica Martins who blasted her first goal of the season into the back of the net to put the Devils up 1-0.
The Roadrunners had three shots following the 1-0 score with one of their best opportunities coming in the 36th minute of the game when
Amber Hermanns hit the post. In the first half, Ramapo held a 7-6 advantage in shots while FDU-Florham recorded the only two corner kicks in the half.
Ramapo could not put the equalizer into the back of the net to extend the game in the second half as the Devils came away with the 1-0 shutout victory. FDU-Florham held a 6-2 advantage in shots in the half and 12-9 in the game while they posted five more corners in the half. Ramapo's
Elizabeth Harvell collected two saves in the game including a diving save in the second half. Nathalia Gallo posted two saves for the Devils.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to New Paltz on Wednesday, September 6th for a non-conference match at 4pm.
