Mahwah, NJ: Muhlenberg College women's volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Ramapo College tonight at the Bradley Center 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 18-25, 23-25). The Mules improve to 15-2 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 12-4 overall.
Two Mules players recorded double-digit kills in the match as Maggie Enestvedt recorded 19 kills and Kelly Tornetta added 13 of her own. Erica Schultz led the team hitting .389 in the match with nine kills on 18 attempts and two errors. Shannon Hubert dished out a team high 40 assists while Maya Illovsky posted a team high 21 digs on defense. Schultz and Enestvedt each tallied four assisted blocks in the match while Brenna Littleson tallied four aces to lead the team. The Mules hit .176 in the match with 52 kills on 153 attempts and 25 errors while they also posted seven team blocks.
The Roadrunners were led by
Larysa Iwaskiw who tallied 27 kills and 21 digs in the match. Hanna Frascella posted seven kills, and two blocks while
Judy Errichetti recorded six kills and four digs.
Kate Shirkey and
Sara Correa split the setting duties recording 19 and 16 assists respectively.
Karina Almeda posted 17 digs on defense while
Sarah Mulligan collected 13.
Samantha Main posted two kills, three assisted blocks and one solo block in the match. Ramapo hit .133 as a team with 43 kills on 143 attempts and 24 errors. The team recorded six total blocks in the match.
Union 3, Lebanon Valley 1 (22-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-22)
Union College (8-10 overall) defeated Lebanon Valley College on court two 3-1. Gillian Gore and Katie Moss each collected 13 kills while Stephanie Libonati hit .391 in the match with 12 kills on 23 attempts and just three errors. Sage Shimamoto dished out 37 assists while Brianne Hallock posted a team high 20 digs. Gore added 18 digs and Abby Salamone collected 12 digs in the match. The team hit .119 in the match with 49 kills on 151 attempts and 31 errors.
Lebanon Valley (10-5 overall) was led by Jess Attieh who posted 13 kills while Nina Mentzer collected 11 kills leading the team hitting .476. Emily Smeltz posted a team high 19 digs on defense while Jensen Burnheimer dished out a team high 38 assists. The team hit .185 in the match with 46 kills on 151 attempts and 18 errors.
All four teams return to action tomorrow at 11am when Ramapo takes on Union on court two and Muhlenberg takes on Lebanon Valley on court two.
