Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches today at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners dropped a 3-1 (20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 12-25) match to Union College before they bounced back to defeat Lebanon Valley College 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22). The Roadrunners now stand at 13-5 overall.
Against Union (8-11 overall), four players recorded double digit kills for the team in the win. Gillian Gore led Union with 15 kills, Stephanie Libonati recorded 11 while Katie Moss and Julia Louis posted ten each. Gore added a team high four aces and 18 digs while Brianna Hallock led the team on defense with 30 digs. Sage Shimamoto dished out a team high 44 assists and Caroline Everts contributed on defense with ten digs. The team hit .209 in the match with 54 kills on 148 attempts and 23 errors.
The Roadrunners were led by
Larysa Iwaskiw who hit .247 in the match with 26 kills on 73 attempts and just eight errors while she also posted 15 digs and two blocks.
Judy Errichetti collected 11 kills, two digs and one block while Hanna Fraschella recorded six kills, seven digs and one block.
Kate Shirkey posted 20 assists while
Sara Correa added 19 of her own in the match.
Karina Almeda tallied a team high 24 digs on defense for the Roadrunners while
Lena Husslein recorded a team high four assisted blocks. The team hit .132 in the match with 47 kills on 159 attempts and 26 errors.
In the Roadrunners second match of the day against Lebanon Valley (10-7 overall) where Ramapo came away with a 3-1 win, Iwaskiw tallied a season high 38 kills. She hit .397 in the match with 38 kills on 78 attempts and just seven errors. She also collected 17 digs and three blocks.
Judy Errichetti posted ten kills; three digs and one block while Frascella added four kills, two digs and three blocks. Shirkey posted a team high 31 assists while Correa collected 19 of her own. Husslein and Main each collected four blocks in the match while Almeda posted a team high 26 digs on defense. The team hit .229 in the match with 56 kills on 153 attempts and 21 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host NJAC rival Kean University on Tuesday, October 3rd at 7pm. Ramapo and Kean are currently tied for first place in the conference. The Cougars are 15-5 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC. During the 2016 season, Ramapo defeated Kean on the road 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-15).
