Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches today at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners defeated Williams College 3-0 before they fell to Middlebury College 3-0. Ramapo saw their eight-match win streak snapped by the Panthers. The Roadrunners now stand at 11-3 on the year.
The team hit .270 against Williams in the first match of the day. Ramapo defeated the Ephs, 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-21).
Larysa Iwaskiw hit .325 with 19 kills on 40 attempts and only six errors for the Roadrunners; she also recorded one ace and 13 digs.
Karina Almeda added eight kills; six digs and one ace while
Samantha Main hit .800 in the match with four kills on five attempts while she also collected two blocks.
Kate Shirkey dished out a team high 24 assists while she added eight digs.
Sarah Mulligan led the team on defense with 18 digs and a team high four aces.
Williams was led by Ally Ostrow who recorded six kills while Alex Newton dished out 18 assists. Daiana Takashima and Morgan Richman posted a team high seven digs in the match. The team hit .106 with 28 kills on 94 attempts and 18 errors.
Middlebury defeated Ramapo 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-19) in the second match of the day. The Panthers used a balanced offensive attack and only committed nine attack errors. The team hit .240 in the match with 39 kills on 125 attempts and only nine errors. Becca Raffel led the team with 13 kills while Sarah Staver and Isabel Sessions collected nine and seven kills respectively. Emma Walsh dished out a team high 35 assists while she also added 13 digs. Eliana Schaefer and Alice Roberts each posted a team high five blocks while Gigi Alper collected a team high 19 digs.
For the Roadrunners, Iwaskiw led the team with 27 kills on 66 attempts as she hit .242 in the match.
Hannah Frascella posted four kills while Almeda added three. The team hit .059 with 35 kills on 136 attempts and 27 errors. Shirkey and
Sara Correa split the setting duties in match two and each recorded 15 assists. Mulligan once again led the team on defense with 23 digs while Almeda and Iwaskiw posted 12 and 11 digs respectively.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday night on the road at conference rival Stockton University at 7pm. The Roadrunners defeated the Ospreys at the Bradley Center during the 2016 regular season 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-23). Iwaskiw collected 30 kills in the four set match while she also posted four blocks.
