Mahwah, NJ: The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team defeated Ramapo College 1-0 in double overtime today at the Athletic Center. The Panthers improve to 3-2-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 3-4 on the year.
The game-winning goal came just 22 seconds into the second overtime period as Ronald Monge sent a ball into the top left corner of the net from 30-yards out for Old Westbury. The golden goal was Monge's fourth goal of the season. Both teams had chances to score through the first overtime period while the Panthers needed only one shot in the second overtime period to find the back of the net.
Ramapo edged the Panthers in shots in the game 22-17 while the Panthers held a slight lead in shots on goal 9-8. Ramapo recorded 11 corner kicks while Old Westbury tallied only two in the game. Ryan Sprague also recorded eight saves in the game for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they travel to NJAC rival Stockton University for a game at 1pm. The Roadrunners and Ospreys tied 1-1 during the 2016 regular season.
