Wayne, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team came back after losing the first set to win 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-10) over NJAC rival William Paterson University on the road. The Roadrunners improve to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC while the Pioneers now stand at 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Senior
Larysa Iwaskiw recorded a season high 33 kills to lead the Roadrunners in their offensive attack. She also became the all-time kills leader in Ramapo College history in men's or women's volleyball. Iwaskiw recorded this career milestone during the second set of the four set match with her 2,011th career kill. She broke Ramapo Athletic Hall of Fame member Kris Fraser's record of 2,010 career kills. Fraser was a four-year member of the men's volleyball team from 2001-2004.
Rookie Hanna Frascella hit .333 on the night with 14 kills on 39 attempts with just one error while she tallied one block and three digs. Iwaskiw added three aces and was tied for a team high in digs with 15. Sophomore
Kate Shirkey led the team with 38 assists while she added a five aces, 11 digs and two blocks. Rookie
Sara Correa also contributed to the setting duties with 14 assists and she tallied five digs. Senior
Sarah Mulligan led the team with seven aces while she was second on the team with 12 digs and tallied a passing percentage of .950. Sophomore
Karina Almeda helped the team on defense with 15 digs while she also posted four kills. Sophomore Morgan Ridgeway led the team with three blocks. The team hit .207 in the match with 58 kills on 169 attempts and 23 errors. They also recorded 16 service aces in the match and 72 digs.
The Pioneers were led by Alyson Toman who hit .378 in the match with 16 kills on 37 attempts and just two errors. Christine Griffith led both team with 28 digs while she added eight kills and one ace. Amanda Lembo posted 15 kills and 11 digs while Kendall Caruso posted a team high 37assists. Kristina Ulrich and Barbara Colizza contributed with 11 and 10 digs respectively. The team hit .167 in the match with 42 kills on 138 attempts and 19 errors.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday night at home when they host New Jersey City University in a NJAC conference match at 7pm.
