Camden, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated NJAC rival Rutgers-Camden 7-1 before falling to the College of New Jersey 9-0 today on the road. The Roadrunners now stand at 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raptors drop to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Lions improve to 5-0 overall and 5-0 in the NJAC.
 
Ramapo won all three of their doubles matches against Rutgers-Camden to take a 3-0 lead. Sabrina Koropchak and Sharon Cherrassky won 9-7 at first doubles while Marine Uyttenhove and Emily Biunno won at second doubles 8-2. Francesca Chicherchia and Megha Mehta posted a 8-0 shut out win at third doubles. Uyttenhove won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at second singles before Chicherchia earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles. Mehta and Alexa Reeve won at fifth and sixth singles respectively with 6-3, 6-2 and 7-5, 6-3 scores.
 
In the Roadrunners second match of the day against TCNJ, the Lions captured their 35th straight NJAC Championship with a perfect 5-0 record in league play. TCNJ also continued their unbeaten match streak in the conference and the program is now 176-0 in league matches. Both streaks date back to 1982 and the conference title streak is the longest active on record in Division III athletics. The Lions punched their ticket to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to NJAC rival William Paterson University on Wednesday, September 20th at 4pm.
