WISNESKI RECORDS 18 SAVES IN LOSS AT VASSAR

Poughkeepsie, NY:  The Vassar College field hockey team shut out the Ramapo College Roadrunners today 5-0. The Brewers improve to 5-1 overall while the Roadrunners now stand at 2-4 on the year.
 
The Brewers scored two goals in the first half while they added three in the second half to earn a 5-0 win at home. Christina Lopez scored in the 9th (8:27) minute of the game for the eventual game-winning goal to take a quick 1-0 lead as Megan Caveny assisted. Dara Studnitzer added an unassisted goal in the 25th minute (25:43) off a rebound shot to take a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.  Vassar held a 25-2 advantage in shots in the first half while they recorded 12 penalty corners to Ramapo's one.
 
In the second half, Caveny added two goals of her own, her seventh and eighth of the season. Caveny's two goals sandwiched a goal from Emily Poehlein. She took a pass from Haley Cubell to score her fourth goal of the year. Vassar recorded a 14-3 advantage in shots in the second half and 39-5 in the game. They also added nine more penalty corners to the Roadrunners three as the Brewers finished with 21 penalty corners in the game. Ramapo tallied four penalty corners overall.
 
Emily Wisneski played the first 61:40 minutes in the net for the Roadrunners and she tallied a season high 18 saves. Samantha Stolker played the final 8:20 of the game as she collected two saves.
 
Liz Rotolo started the game for the Brewers and recorded two saves in the first 37:11 while Paige Amico played the final 32:49 and did not have to record a save.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, September 21st when they host Western Connecticut State University at 4pm. The Roadrunners fell 4-3 to the Colonials on the road during the 2016 season.
