Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team hosted the 2017 Roadrunner Invitational which kicked off tonight at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners posted a 3-0 sweep over Potsdam in their opening match before defeating FDU-Florham, 3-1 to improve to 5-2 overall on the year. In the win against Potsdam, head coach Rob Pichardo earned his 250th Roadrunner and his 350th career win as women's head coach.
Ramapo 3- Potsdam 0
The Roadrunners defeated the Bears of Potsdam State, 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-21) in their opening match of the invitational as
Larysa Iwaskiw led the team with 25 kills. She hit .353 while the Roadrunners combined for 47 kills on 115 attempts and 14 errors hitting .287.
Kate Shirkey dished out 31 assists and the defense was led by
Sarah Mulligan with 14, Iwaskiw with 13 and
Kristina Semple with ten. Cierra Farnschlader led the Bears on offense with seven kills as the team combined for 25 kills on 117 attempts with 14 errors hitting .094. Brianna Rodda dished out 23 assists and Kelsea Healis picked up 16 digs. Rodda picked up ten digs of her own in the loss.
Scranton 3 – Mt. St. Mary 0
Scranton shut out Mt. St. Mary in match one, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-8) with the team hitting a combined .299 with 39 kills on 87 attempts with 13 errors. Kindler Norman dished out 33 assists and Kate Calabro, Kristen Sweeney, and Jenna Nason each picked up double-digit digs with 12, 11 and ten respectively. Mt. St. Mary was led by Madelyn Barberan on offense with six kills. Courtney Blum dished out 20 assists and Julimar Figueroa picked up a team leading 15 digs. The team hit 24-89 with 14 errors hitting .112.
FDU-Florham 3 – St.Joe's-LI 0
FDU-Florham defeated St. Joes' in three straight sets (25-14, 25-19, 25-18) behind 12 kills from Lauren Harris and ten from Melissa Gaffney. The team combined for 34 kills on 112 attempts with 15 errors hitting .170. Courtney Conte dished out 25 assists and Rachel Catena picked up 17 digs. Gaffney added 16 digs and Harris picked up 15. For St. Joes's Norgan Tiska led the team with six kills as they combined for 22-113 with 22 errors hitting .000. J Montesserrato dished out 18 assists and led with 14 digs.
Potsdam 3 – Mt. St. Mary 0
Rachel Topf led the Bears to a three set shut out (25-16, 25-17, 25-23) as she collected 11 kills. The team combined hitting 25-102 with 13 errors (.118). Rodda dished out 23 assists and Whitney Coyle picked up a team leading 15 digs. Rodda added 14 in the win. Jackie Survilla led Mt. St. Mary with seven kills as the team went 30-124 with 29 errors hitting .008. Courtney Blum dished out 26 assists and Figueroa led the defense with 28 digs.
Scranton 3 - St. Joe's 0
Scranton wrapped up the evening with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-22, 25-19) over ST. Joe's as Jillian Graham led the way with nine kills. The team combined for 39 kills on 111 attempts with eight errors hitting .279. Kyra Bevenour dished out 30 assists and Regina Schetroma led the defense with 21 digs. St. Joe's was led by Kaitlin Williams and Claire Urizzo with seven kills each. The team went 25-105 with 15 errors hitting .095. Monteserrato dished out 22 assists and Danielle Senecal picked up 23 digs.
Ramapo 3 – FD-Florham 1
Ramapo defeated the Devils of FDU, 3-1 (25-21, 11-25, 25-15, 25-22) as Iwaskiw collected a team high 30 kills.
Hannah Frascella put away 15 as the team went 54-169 with 23 errors hitting .183. Shirkey dished out 47 assists and
Amanda Rose picked up 18 digs. Iwaskiw collected 17 digs, Semple 15 and Mulligan 13. FDU was led by Gaffney and Harris with 13 kills each as the team combined for 38 kills on 157 attempts with 20 errors hitting .115. Conte dished out 32 assists and Harris picked up a team leading 26 digs. Catena added 24 digs in the loss.
