Game Recap: Field Hockey |

FDU SURVIVES LATE COMEBACK SURGE BY RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College field hockey team scored two goals in just over a minute with under three to play in the game to threaten a come-from-behind victory but the Devils of FDU-Florham would prevail as they defeated the Roadrunners 3-2 in non-conference action.  With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 2-3 overall on the year and FDU improves to 4-1.

In the first half of play the Devils would get on the scoreboard at the 25:49 minute mark as Brooke Sherwin hit the back of the net off an assist by Marissa Kowalskie.  Just about five minutes later, FDU would go ahead 2-0 as Maggie Sohns dished the ball to Kelly O'Neill who collected her first goal of the season.

The half would end with the Devils leading in shots, 12-3 and corners, 6-5.  Samantha Rubin made two saves in the cage in the first 35 minutes of play while Ramapo's Emily Wisneski blocked six shots.

Ariana Wexler collected a goal in the second half at 53:15 off an assist from Gabby Allen to go ahead 3-0 and with just 2:49 to play the Roadrunners broke the shut out with a goal from Lauren Berry off the assist from Claudia Wetzel.  The Roadrunners were not done as Gianna Mouskourie beat the goaltender and ripped a shot into the back of the cage to close the gap, 2-3 just over one minute later.

In the final two minutes of play, the Devils held strong collecting an additional two shots holding onto the 3-2 victory.  The Devils held a 12-2 advantage in shots in the final period as Rubin and Megan March split time in the net collecting no saves.  March let up Ramapo's two goals in the final minutes.  Wisneski finished the game with an additional seven saves in the second half.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 16th when they travel to Vassar College for a 1pm match-up.  Last year it was Vassar with the 6-0 shut out win over Ramapo on the road.
