Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated Bard College this afternoon 7-2 at the Athletic Center Tennis Courts in their season opener. The Roadrunners start the 2017-2018 season 1-0 while the Raptors drop to 0-2 overall.
The Roadrunners came out of doubles action up 2-0 as they won first and second doubles matches.
Sabrina Koropchak and
Sharon Cherrassky won at first singles, 8-6 before
Marine Uyttenhove and
Emily Biunno earned an 8-3 victory at second doubles.
The Raptors posted wins at first and second singles while the Roadrunners took third through sixth singles. Koropchak won at third singles 6-1, 6-1 before Fran Chicherchia won at fourth singles 6-3, 6-1.
Christine Bednarz recorded a shutout win at fifth singles 6-0, 6-0 while
Alexa Reeve earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 13th when they take on NJAC rival Kean University at 5:30pm. Ramapo fell to the Cougars on the road during the 2016 season 5-4.
